ABOUT US
Located in Athens, Ohio, New Chords on the Block was founded as Ohio University's first mixed competitive a cappella group in 2010 by Sarah Mason, under the advisory of Dr. Paschal Younge. The group currently consists of 17 talented musicians of all different majors who enjoy coming together to perform both around campus and competitively.
We have been competing in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella Competition for many years. In the 2019-2020 season, we were named Midwest Quarterfinal Runner-up and received an award for Outstanding Soloist. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we were unable to attend Semifinals or participate in the competition during the 2020-2021 school year. But, we returned the following year and took first place in the Midwest Quarterfinal, also receiving awards for Outstanding Choreography and Outstanding Vocal Percussion, allowing us to advance to Semifinals in St. Louis, Missouri.

This year, we are unbelievably excited to have placed second at the ICCA Quarterfinals, winning Outstanding Arrangement and moving on to the ICCA Semifinals in Hilliard, OH.
